Edible Food Series

hot dogI was checking in books the other day and came across two wonderful books that are part of a series called Edible.  The books I saw were Hot Dog: a global history by Bruce Kraig, and Pie: a global history by Janet Clarkson.  From the back of the book:  “Books in Reaktions’s Edible Series are paragons of their type; concise and flavourful, jammed with interesting facts, period photos, and just a handful of recipes, inpiecase you want to “do it yourself”. I recommend these books to foodies and academics alike” – Robert Sietsema, restaurant critic for The Village Voice.  I haven’t actually READ any of the Edible Series…but I will.  The premise reminded me of one of my favorite books of all time:  The pencil : a history of design and circumstances by Henry Petroski.
