Death at Play: Murder at the Reenactment by Nancy Gotter Gates

If you enjoy reading fiction set in places familiar to you, you’ll love this death-at-playmystery novel!  If you live in the Greensboro area, you’ll recognize the setting of almost every scene, from the Cottage Place townhouse development to the Oak Ridge area and from various local restaurants to Moses Cone Hospital. And, most interesting of all, the murder takes place during the annual reenactment of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Narrator Tommi Poag teams up with her former husband, an attorney, to find the real murderer and clear the name of one of her friends, a reenactor whose Revolutionary War sword apparently struck the fatal blow. Tommi is a likeable heroine, and it’s fascinating to follow her through well-known places as she seeks to solve the mystery.

     Gates lives in High Point.
