Tar Heel Dead, edited by Sarah R. Shaber

Tar_heel_dead Tales of mystery and mayhem from North Carolina… These short stories were written by today’s popular mystery writers, such as Nancy Bartholomew, Lilian Jackson Braun, Margaret Maron, and Sarah R. Shaber, by well-known authors from the past, such as O. Henry, Guy Owen, and Manly Wade Wellman, and by some who are less well known–but well worth knowing. There’s even a tale by Orson Scott Card, who’s not usually thought of as a mystery writer. If you think you don’t like short stories, think again! It must take a lot of talent to build suspense and solve the mystery in a few pages while creating interesting characters. You’ll find one of these stories just the thing to work into a crowded day’s schedule!
